WSU Falls Short of Upset against No. 9/8 Beavers

PULLMAN, Wash. –The Washington State women’s basketball team (12-11, 3-9 Pac-12) was unable to complete the upset of No. 9/8 Oregon State (20-3, 11-1), Sunday, at Beasley Coliseum, falling to the Beavers, 45-54. With the Cougars leading by six at the end of the third quarter, top-ranked OSU outscored WSU 26-11 in the final 10 minutes to secure the victory. WSU freshman Borislava Hristova led all scorers with 22 points.

The Cougars excelled defensively, forcing Oregon State into 17 turnovers and holding the Beavers scoreless for over eight minutes in the third quarter. Sophomore Caila Hailey led the defensive charge, forcing OSU’s Sydney Wiese into an uncharacteristic seven turnovers.
