The Washington State Cougars travel south for what has been called the Texas Kickoff Classic against the Houston Cougars on Friday night. The game pits WSU head coach Mike Leach against his former assistant, UH head coach Dana Holgorsen.
Wazzu comes into the matchup 2-0 and averaging 58.5 points a game after blowout wins over New Mexico State and Northern Colorado. WSU quarterback Anthony Gordon has been a revelation in his first two starts, putting up two 400-yard games and nine touchdowns despite giving up more than two quarters to backups.
Houston (1-1) will provide a much tougher out for Washington State, particularly on offense.
