College football players score up to $550 in bowl game gifts | The News Tribune

Bowl swag.

For college football players it can be nearly as exciting as their postseason games.

NCAA rules allow bowl game organizers to present players with gifts valued at up to $550. Gifts range from speakers, gift cards and video game consoles to water bottles, hats and fidget spinners.

The most common present is something called a gift suite. What’s this? It’s essentially a free shopping spree in a temporary store stocked with a variety of items. The stores are sometimes set up on campus before they bowl trip or at the venue. Sometimes the shopping is done online.
