Third quarter: Redskins 20, Cardinals 17

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Things looked bright in the third quarter on Sunday after Washington Redskins defensive end Trent Murphy sacked Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer on third down, knocking the Cardinals back ten yards to the 35 yard line.

The sack forced Arizona to attempt a 53-yard field goal, which kicker Chandler Catanzaro missed.

But in the ensuing Redskins’ drive, quarterback Kirk Cousins was sacked by defensive tackle Calais Campbell, and the ball was recovered linebacker Markus Golden, who returned the fumble to the Redskins’ 10 yard line. A six-yard Michael Floyd reception would give the Cardinals the lead.
