Redskins' quest to find defensive coordinator slowed by issues, timing

The Washington Redskins still need a defensive coordinator, the result of some bad timing, a quest to be thorough and their own questions about the roster and job security.

The bad timing: Carolina defensive coordinator Sean McDermott became the Buffalo Bills head coach. That led to Steve Wilks’ promotion from secondary coach to McDermott’ replacement. He was on the Redskins’ radar. More bad timing: Anthony Lynn was named the Los Angeles Chargers' head coach and another Redskins' candidate, Gus Bradley, will interview with him -- it's been reported that they were a package deal. We'll see.

They interviewed Bradley and Mike Pettine (still free).
