It's official -- Washington Redskins rookie running back Matt Jones has been voted the winner of the FedEx Ground Player of the Week honors.
Jones, who ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns in last Sunday’s 24-10 victory over the St. Louis Rams at FedExField, was competing with former NFL MVP Adrian Peterson of the Minnesota Vikings and Giovanni Bernard of the Cincinnati Bengals.
But it was the rookie, not the veterans, who caught a lot of attention last week between bruising runs up the middle and even a little bit of speed on his 39-yard touchdown run in the first quarter.
