The Washington Redskins put up a major fight on Sunday at the new home of the San Francisco 49ers, Levi's Stadium. However, the Redskins still came up on the short end of the stick, falling 17-13.
The pass offense with Robert Griffin III under center was again anemic, with RGIII going 11 of 19 for just 106 yards and zero touchdowns. The Redskins had a very conservative run-based game plan going in, and Griffin executed it while also not turning the ball over.
However, the offense still stalled for most of the day while the defensive did its very best to steal the game from the home-standing 49ers.
Head coach Jay Gruden saw progress out of Robert Griffin III, but wasn't exactly impressed with other aspects of the aerial attack.
"He made strides, but there are other things that go into a passing game," Gruden said after the game, via John Keim of ESPN.com.
Gruden was likely referencing the team's pass protection, which left RGIII out to dry on many an occasion on Sunday.
All in all, the jury is likely still out when it comes to Griffin's future with the team and Gruden's confidence in him as the #1 guy.
