If the Redskins get a raw deal on the schedule, fans can hardly complain

Unless you’re a season-ticket holder, half the fun of schedule-release day is looking at the 16-game slate to see how your team has been done wrong.

“C’mon, we’re playing them on 10 days’ rest?”

Of course, all 32 teams can’t be getting a raw deal. A group from the University of Buffalo, inspired by the Bills’ schedules, studied the best way to space out bye weeks and Thursday games, and presented their findings at this year’s Sloan Analytics conference. Those findings caught ESPN’s attention last week.

While the theory behind making the schedules more fair is interesting, the data most relevant to Washington fans shows that only the Bengals played fewer games against teams with a significant rest advantage from 2002 to 2014.
