Source: Nats summon backup for ailing Wieters

ATLANTA -- Nationals catcher Matt Wieters is dealing with an injury, the extent of which will be unknown until he can be further evaluated prior to Monday night's game against the Braves, a source told MLB.com Monday morning. For insurance, the team flew catcher Pedro Severino to Atlanta to meet the team in case he needs to be activated.

The Washington Post was first to report the arrival of Severino, the club's No. 20 prospect as ranked by MLB Pipeline, although no roster move had been made as of Monday morning. The Nats are already playing with a short bench, and they did not want to be caught without a backup catcher if Wieters requires a stint on the disabled list.
