Harper leads all NL players in All-Star voting

Bryce Harper’s stunning start to the season hasn’t been lost at all by baseball fans, both in Washington and around the world.

Harper has received more All-Star votes than any other player in the National League so far, Major League Baseball announced Wednesday, making him an early favorite to be in the starting lineup at the July 14 midsummer classic in Cincinnati.

Harper has received 1,116,582 votes to date, edging out Cardinals second baseman Matt Carpenter (1,113,060) as the league’s top vote-getter and well ahead of all other NL outfielders. St. Louis’ Matt Holliday (979,008) and Miami’s Giancarlo Stanton (746,926) rank second and third behind Harper in the outfield, with San Francisco’s Nori Aoki (441,407) a distant fourth.
