UW men’s coach Mike Hopkins taps Nevada’s Dave Rice to complete staff

New Washington men’s basketball coach Mike Hopkins hired Dave Rice, the former head coach at UNLV and an assistant last season at Nevada, to complete his first staff with the Huskies.

Rice joins UW assistants Cameron Dollar, the former Seattle University coach, and Will Conroy, the only holdover from the regime led by Hopkins’ predecessor Lorenzo Romar.

The trio of Washington assistants combine for 14-years of head-coaching experience with West Coast ties, which shores up two perceivable weaknesses in Hopkins, a first-time head coach who spent his 21-year coaching career on the East Coast as an assistant at Syracuse.
