Brian Thornton of Meridian Valley leads Northwest Open Invitational

PGA Professional Brian Thornton of Meridian Valley CC in Kent shot a bogey-free 10-under 62 to jump into the lead after 36 holes of the Northwest Open Invitational at Wine Valley Golf Club in Walla Walla.

Thornton, the 2010 champion, is at 13-under 131, five strokes ahead of amateurs Drew McCullough of Meadow Springs CC in Richland and Michael Baldeck of Clarkston CC.

The final round begins at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday with the leaders teeing off at 2:18 p.m.
