Linebacker Reuben Foster claimed by Redskins after 49ers release

Former San Francisco 49ers linebacker Reuben Foster was claimed off waivers by the Washington Redskins Tuesday, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter.

The Niners had released the 24-year-old Sunday after he was arrested late Saturday night at the team hotel on a charge of misdemeanor domestic violence. It remains to be seen if the league will suspend Foster.

The arrest report from the Hillsborough County Sheriff's office said Foster was arrested at 9:10 p.m. ET Saturday at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Tampa and booked into jail two hours later. Foster's bond was set at $2,000 during a bail hearing Sunday morning, along with orders to avoid any contact with the accuser.
