The Washington Capitals had a very short week in the first week of the NHL season. Their only game was on Saturday night when they opened against the New Jersey Devils at home. The Washington Capitals won that game 5-3. They got the maximum amount of points (two) that they could have gotten.

That isn’t to say that the Capitals looked perfect. They looked a bit sloppy on Saturday. Waiting so long to play their first game played a part in that. The first regular season game was on Wednesday and the Caps were the second to last team to start their regular season.
