Caps Hold Moment of Silence for #HockeyFightsCancer

Before the Caps-Red Wings game on Friday, the Capitals held a moment of silence to honor the patients and families of those battling or recovering from cancer. Every player from both teams stood on the ice, along the blue line, with their sticks in the air, and fans turned out their cellphone flashlights (anyone remember doing this with lighters?).

The sticks, wrapped in lavender tape, will be auctioned off, with the proceeds benefiting Flashes of Hope, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic and Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

The auction opens at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 27 and will conclude at the end of the second intermission of the Capitals game on Friday, Nov.
