Connolly, a former sixth-overall pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning, scored nine goals and recorded 16 assists in 71 games with the Boston Bruins last season, setting a career high in points in a single season.
Connolly, 24, played primarily Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand just last season. He was bought out of his contract earlier this week.
Connolly has respectable possession numbers.
