Capitals discharge Lightning with a show of power

Some revelations take time, and for Jason Chimera, the new side of himself he has recently discovered is better late than never.

“They didn’t know I was a power-play guy until I’m 36,” Chimera joked. “You usually find out stuff later in life, and that’s what they found out.”

Two weeks ago, the Washington Capitals’ power-play unit had been booed on its home ice, the Verizon Center crowd showing frustration with a group that looked disjointed, especially compared to previous seasons.

That seemed like a lifetime ago on Friday night, when the power play put on a clinic with three goals in Washington’s 4-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
