Capitals sign college prospect Riley Barber to entry-level contract

Friday afternoon, the Capitals signed forward prospect Riley Barber to a three-year, entry-level contract effective beginning with the 2015-16 season, the team announced. The sixth-round draft pick in 2012 just completed his junior season at Miami (Ohio) University, finishing with a career-high 20 goals in 38 games.

The 21-year-old Barber recorded a point in 30 games for the Redhawks, but suffered an injury during the National Collegiate Hockey Conference tournament championship against St. Cloud State, needing help leaving the ice, and did not play in a 7-5 loss to Providence in the NCAA East Regional semifinals, which ended their season.
