Obama’s Student Aid Bill of Rights considers loans

Last month, President Barack Obama unveiled the Student Aid Bill of Rights to help students obtain affordable, quality education. While the proposal is not yet definite, the initiatives outlined could greatly help students that will or have accumulated loan debt.

At Wake Forest, the Wake Will campaign will be the university’s way of assisting its own students with loans. It will also help ensure that university students have the rights to which they are entitled.

The Student Aid Bill of Rights outlines four specific student rights. This includes, “Every student deserves access to a quality, affordable education at a college that’s cutting costs and increasing learning, every student should be able to access the resources needed to pay for college, every borrower has the right to an affordable repayment plan and every borrower has the right to quality customer service, reliable information, and fair treatment, even if they struggle to repay their loans,” the White House Fact Sheet read.
