Virginia Tech Baseball Coaching Hire Looks To Right The Ship

Virginia Tech baseball is making some serious changes. After a mediocre season, the Hokies decided to part ways with Pat Mason. Mason never really got things going in Blacksburg after four middling seasons. Mason’s lifetime winning percentage with the Hokies was a paltry .417. Change had to be made, and Whit Babcock and company decided on Maryland coach, John Szefc. Szefc has some interesting experience, but a quick glance at the resume reveals that the guy can recruit. At Kansas, Szefc was in charge of recruiting, and later had that same role at Kansas State.

As a head coach, he has had two different helms.
