The Virginia Tech Hokies Defeat the Rider Broncs in the First Round of the WNIT

The women of Virginia Tech ended the regular season on a high note with an 82-79 win over the Boston College Eagles. The victory halted an 11-game skid that saw the Hokies post a disappointing 4-12 conference record and fall from a peak national ranking of No. 15. The Hokies then lost a close match in the ACC tournament, falling in the opening round to the Clemson Tigers, 66-67. Because of the last of the season the Fighting Gobblers missed out on the NCAA Tournament, but were selected to the WNIT.

For the first round the Hokies hosted the Rider Broncs at Cassell Coliseum.
