Zach Cunningham is becoming a household name. And with Cunningham’s mental game joining his speed and strength, his coach isn’t surprised to see the result.
Vanderbilt coach Derek Mason praised the Commodores linebacker’s combination of mental and physical attributes during Wednesday’s weekly SEC teleconference.
“His football IQ is extremely high,” Mason said.
That high football IQ takes many forms for Cunningham, a redshirt junior. As Mason said, it’s one thing to know what to do on defense and another thing to be able to execute it.
“He understands schemes and he plays sideline to sideline,” Mason said.
