Derek Mason happy with Vanderbilt’s ground game

Vanderbilt explosive on offense? The Commodores’ most recent victory was against a FCS opponent, but Commodores coach Derek Mason isn’t complaining.

He expressed his satisfaction with the team’s sudden offensive surge – and the offensive line that made it possible – in response to the Commodores’ 35-17 win against Tennessee State on Saturday.

“Our offensive line dominated this game. Our rush game was on,” Mason said. “Kyle (Shurmur) had time to throw. To have two running backs go over 100 yards and rush for over 300 overall is pretty impressive.”

Steady Ralph Webb rushed for 125 yards and Khari Blasingame gained 100 more as the Commodores racked up 358 yards on the ground.
