Fulmer's start, late rally lead Dores past Kentucky 13-3

After giving up three early runs against Kentucky, it looked like Fulmer was going to have another rough start. But the ace calmed down to complete his ninth quality start, Vanderbilt’s bats came alive late in the game, and the Commodores topped the Wildcats 13-3.

Vanderbilt took an early lead on Rhett Wiseman’s home run in the first and Karl Ellison’s RBI groundout, but Fulmer’s wavering command put the game in question.

Fulmer needed 23 pitches to get through the second inning, in which he threw one more ball than strike. JaVon Shelby led off the inning with a home run, and Fulmer allowed a walk, a double off the wall, and a single before he got out of the jam with two straight fly outs.
