VANCOUVER, BC – Vancouver Whitecaps FC confirmed today that Sam Adekugbe, Alphonso Davies, and Marcel de Jong have been called up to the Canadian national team for their international friendly vs. Jamaica on Saturday, September 2 at BMO Field (4 p.m. PT on TSN).
Davies and de Jong will join the national team following Vancouver’s away match at Orlando City SC on Saturday, August 26 and are not expected to miss any action, while Adekugbe is currently on loan with Swedish Allsvenskan club IFK Göteborg.
All three players rejoin the national team after helping Canada reach the quarterfinal stage of the Gold Cup for the first time since 2009.
