Whitecaps right back Sheanon Williams was arrested Thursday morning and charged with “assault in connection with an alleged domestic incident” according to an MLS press release.
While the statement put out by the league is short on details, it did note that Williams is suspended pending an investigation by both the Vancouver Police Department and MLS. The 27-year-old will also undergo a substance abuse assessment, indicating that drugs and/or alcohol may well have been part of the incident.
