Day two of the Development Academy Winter Showcase took place on Friday with both the Whitecaps FC U-17 and U-19 Residency teams in action.
U-17
The Whitecaps FC U-17s kicked off their play in the Winter Showcase with a 2-0 win over fellow MLS academy side New York City FC.
The ‘Caps opened the scoring 22 minutes in with an exquisite chip goal from Simon Colyn, assisted by Ali Zohar. Second half substitute Matteo de Brienne doubled the lead to 2-0 on a rebound in the 59th minute after the goalkeeper made a great stop on a Kyle Gomes curling effort.
