The 2017 Whitecaps season is officially over after falling 2-0 to the defending Champs in Seattle on pair of Clint Dempsey 2nd half goals. The big news when the rosters were announced was the omission of Osvaldo Alonso in the Seattle lineup. This meant that Nicolas Lodeiro dropped into a holding midfield role beside Roldan. Robbo served up his best 11 which had fans excited.
That didn’t last too long as it became apparent that the tactics utilized in Leg 1 were also in play which indicated, to me at least, they were hoping to poach a win via counterattack or a set piece.
