VANCOUVER, BC – Canada Soccer announced today the list of nominees for the 2017 Canada Soccer Player Awards and eight different Vancouver Whitecaps FC players are in contention.
On the men’s side, Alphonso Davies and Marcel de Jong are both up for the Canadian men’s player of the year after playing key roles in helping Canada reach the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Gold Cup for the first time since 2009. Davies, who earned his Canadian citizenship in June, is also up for the Canadian U-17 men’s player of the year after winning the award in 2016.
