Vancouver Canucks re-sign centre Michael Chaput

Vancouver Canucks general manager Jim Benning was among the busiest in free agency, signing the likes of Sam Gagner, Michael Del Zotto and Anders Nilsson.

Benning went to work again on Thursday, re-signing centre Michael Chaput to a one-year deal worth $687,500, as reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

The Canucks added Chaput to the lineup last season, trying to boast depth in their lineup. But Chaput struggled to fit in, scoring just four goals and nine points in 68 games.

He was often experimented by former head coach Willie Desjardins on the first line with Daniel and Henrik Sedin.
