Perhaps it was too early for Vancouver Canucks forward Jake Virtanen to play in the NHL in the 2015-16 season. Perhaps an additional year in junior and a first pro season in the minors would have helped. But, that’s not what happened, so the club needs to deal with the current situation.
Virtanen, the Canucks’ 2014 sixth-overall pick, appeared in 10 games for the Canucks this season, recording no goals and just one assist. His production isn’t what made him valuable for the team last season, but he didn’t look as strong defensively this year either.
