Alex Edler, Brandon Sutter injuries make it a tougher mountain for Canucks to climb

GLENDALE, Ariz. — The Vancouver Canucks did not stay healthy for long.

General manager Jim Benning confirmed today that the team has lost centre Brandon Sutter and defenceman Alex Edler to significant injuries that will keep them both out of the lineup for the foreseeable future.

Benning said Sutter suffered a broken jaw when he was struck in the face by a puck midway through the second period of Tuesday night's 3-1 win in Denver over the Colorado Avalanche.

Edler suffered a suspected foot fracture while blocking a shot late in the second period of that game.
