VANCOUVER - The Vancouver Canucks pulled off a significant trade today, acquiring centre Brandon Sutter and a third-round draft pick from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for centre Nick Bonino, defenceman Adam Clendening and a second-round pick.
Sutter, 26, had 21 goals and 33 points in 80 games with the Penguins last season. In 495 NHL games, he has 98 and 185 points.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Sutter was selected 11th overall in the 2007 draft by the Carolina Hurricanes. He was traded to Pittsburgh in 2012.
Sutter is heading into the final year of a contract that will pay him $3.
