UTEP falters in final game of season

Through the second half of the Conference USA season, UTEP was able to rescue its few subpar outings with clutch play in the final minutes.

That was a dangerous formula and in the season-ender against UTSA on Thursday, it finally burned them.

The Roadrunners got hot in the final half of the fourth quarter, the Miners finally ran out of answers, and the University of Texas at San Antonio pulled off a 69-64 upset over the champion Miners. That perhaps now forces the University of Texas at El Paso to win the league tournament to save their NCAA chances, as they fell to 25-3 overall and 16-2 in C-USA, while UTSA improved to 10-18, 6-12.
