Garvin Hardison always figured to be UTEP's starting quarterback. That was fairly obvious last season when he was being groomed for the job.
His coronation as starter came a little earlier than expected when TJ Goodwin opted out of fall practice Saturday and confirmed that decision on Twitter.
"After conversations with my family and prayer, I have decided to exercise my NCAA opt out option for the 2020 season during this worldwide pandemic," Goodwin tweeted. "It was the toughest decision of my life but due to personal reasons, it is what I feel is best for me as a person and player.
