Utah State football: Aggie defense keys lopsided win over Boise

Said Utah State quarterback Kent Myers: "I'm really proud of my team — the offense and defense."

Boise's seven first-half turnovers were the difference in the game:

• With 2:12 left in the first quarter, Utah State defensive end Ricky Ali'ifua sacked Boise State quarterback Brett Rypien and forced a fumble. Aggie linebacker Kyler Fackrell recovered at the Bronco 11, setting up Myers' 10-yard touchdown pass to Hunter Sharp.

• With 17 seconds left in the first quarter, Vigil sacked Rypien, who fumbled again. Defensive end Jordan Nielsen recovered at the Boise 22. Four plays later, LaJuan Hunt ran four yards for a touchdown, giving Utah State a 24-3 lead.
