Utah State senior golfer Tanner Jenson carded rounds of 70 and 69 and is currently tied for eighth place with a 5-under-par 139 following the first day of competition at the Colorado-hosted Mark Simpson Invitational held Monday at the Colorado National Golf Club.
Utah State is currently in 14th place in the 19-team field at 5-over 581 (296-285). Colorado leads the tournament at 18-under 558 (282-276), and the Buffaloes Morten Toft Hansen is the individual leader at 8-under 136 (71-65).
During his first 36 holes, Jenson had 10 birdies as he began his day by carding a 2-under 70 and then followed that up with a 3-under 69.
