The Bulldogs built a 19-point lead in the first half Saturday on the way to an 83-71 victory, withstanding Baylor's opening flurry of the second half.
Junior forward Brandon Clarke led Gonzaga with 36 points on 15-of-18 shooting and Corey Kispert added 16. Clarke had scored 36 points in 2017, when he played for for San Jose State. He added eight rebounds and five blocked shots Saturday.
Clarke scored 18 points for the Bulldogs and Kispert added eight in the first half., teaming to outscore the Bears by themselves. Jared Butler had 10 for Baylor.
The Bears (20-14) responded by scoring the first 10 points of the second half and soon got within five points.
