UTA Softball falls to Texas State in semifinals

Following its walk-off win against the University of South Alabama, the UTA softball team (32-26) fell to Texas State University 1-0 in the Sun Belt Championship semifinals Friday at the Troy Softball Complex.

The Bobcats' lone run came in the third inning off of an RBI single up the middle. Texas State recorded two hits compared to UTA’s six, but the Mavericks stranded five runners on base.

Freshman infielder Whitney Walton and senior infielder Shelbi Sikes racked up multi-hit games, both hitting 2-3 with a double.

In the circle, sophomore pitcher Sam Clakley dropped to 26-14, surrendering one run off two hits while walking two and striking out two.
