The UTA baseball team soared to victory after defeating the Georgia Southern University Eagles 3-2 Friday at Clay Gould Ballpark.
“It was a great Friday night game between two good teams,” head coach Darin Thomas said. “We got just enough.”
With the win, the Mavericks improved to 12-11 overall and 3-1 in Sun Belt Conference play.
Starting off the game with senior pitcher Kadon Simmons on the mound, the Maverick defense worked quickly to retire the Eagles in order in the first inning.
UTA put its first run on the board off a two-out home run by senior outfielder Quintin Rohrbaugh.
