The baseball team lost its final regular season series 2-1 to Texas State University.

The Mavericks' lone win in the series clinched the Sun Belt Conference western division and the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.

In the series' opening game, Texas State jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning and increased its lead to 7-1.
The Mavericks responded to their largest deficit of the game by scoring three runs in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh.
