UTA trailed 4-0 after giving up four runs in the second inning but went on a 8-0 run between the third and sixth innings to pull ahead 8-4.
Georgia State scored three runs in the eighth inning to make it a one-run game, but the Mavericks scored two runs in the ninth inning to extend their lead to 10-7.
