The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) named head coach Scott Cross the District 24 coach of the year Wednesday.
Cross has coached the Mavericks since the 2006-07 season and led the men’s basketball program to a 204-147 record during his tenure.
Junior forward Kevin Hervey became the first UTA player in school history to earn NABC First Team All-District honors. Junior guard Erick Neal earned NABC Second Team recognition, making him the first Maverick to be named to the second team in consecutive seasons.
Hervey was named the Sun Belt player of the year after averaging 17.
