The men's track and field team did something on Tuesday it hadn't done since 2014, winning its 10th Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championship.
"Our athletes competed like champions," head coach John Sauerhage said to www.utamavs.com. "We had guys step up and show our team the way this week. Any time you win a championship it takes special efforts from a lot of people, and you saw that over the past two days. We had some huge performances at the right time."
The men's team totaled 133.5 points, 14.5 points more than its closest competitor.
Junior long-distance runner Joel Duren won the the 3000-meter run and the mile run for the Mavericks.
