In its last tournament before the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Texas Regionals, the men’s tennis team had a near-perfect bout at the University of Texas at San Antonio Invitational Sunday at the UTSA Tennis Center.
Sophomore Mauricio Del Rio went 4-0 in singles play and was the Flight 2 winner. Senior Mario Muniesa also had an undefeated tournament at 3-0, but he missed out on a flight win in a tiebreaker. Across singles and doubles overall, UTA finished 17-5.
The doubles pairing of senior Daniel Armengol and Del Rio picked up wins over Texas A&M Corpus Christi (6-2) and UTSA (6-1) but fell another pair from UT-San Antonio 7-6.
