Last-second alley-oop leads USC past Oregon in back-and-forth battle

Jordan McLaughlin took an inbounds pass, looked for an open man and then spotted Chimezie Metu alone under the hoop.

McLaughlin lofted a pass and Metu laid it in with less than a second remaining and USC defeated Oregon, 72-70, Thursday at the Galen Center.

McLaughlin and Metu each finished with a double-double. McLaughlin scored 11 points and had 11 assists, while Metu scored 18 and grabbed 10 rebounds.

Jonah Mathews, who made his first start in 10 games after solidifying a role off the bench, led the Trojans with 20 points.

Bennie Boatwright, who has dealt with a nagging foot injury since the non-conference portion of the schedule, left the game with 7:57 remaining.
