3 Oregon football players hospitalized for no good reason

The best high school players in the nation will formally choose a college football program Feb. 1.

Others will, too.

George Raveling, the former USC hoops coach, used to put his newspaper down on the day after National Signing Day, after he’d read that every school got exactly who it wanted in recruiting.

“Where did the average players go?” he wondered.

Nowhere in that agreement does the player grant the coach, or the school, the right to put him in the hospital.

That happened to three Oregon football players last week.

Doug Brenner, Sam Poutasi and Cam McCormick wound up at PeaceHealth Sacred Medical Center.
