Derrick Jones Jr. taken out of NCAA conference under suspicious circumstances

By Kevin Krall

The NCAA declared freshman Runnin’ Rebel star Derrick Jones Jr. ineligible due to his ACT score being denied last Monday–but the timing and circumstances are suspicious at best.

The 2015-16 season has repeatedly ground the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels into the dirt. With the resignation of Head Coach Dave Rice and a lengthy list of injuries still haunting the Runnin’ Rebels, the last thing they needed was for the NCAA Eligibility Center to come after one of their remaining players.

After speaking with Derrick Jones’s attorney, Don Jackson, ACT Testing Public Relations member Ed Colby and Runnin’ Rebel Head Coach Todd Simon, the situation doesn’t add up and it’s crippling UNLV.
