USA U-17s beat Portugal 7-1 at Nike Friendlies

The United States Under-17 national team began the 2016 Nike International Friendlies with a 7-1 win over Portugal in Lakewood Ranch, Florida.

Andrew Carleton opened the scoring in the 8th minute, converting a penalty kick. Josh Sargent doubled the lead in the 19th minute, finishing a pass from Ayo Akinola.

Portugal pulled one back shortly after. Umaro Embalo took advantage of a USMNT turnover, and slotted his shot past goalkeeper Justin Garces.

Carleton scored his second goal of the match in the 37th minute, volleying his shot from outside the box into the net.
