Throwback Thursday: Alex Morgan beats Canada in the 123rd minute

It’s one of the most incredible matches in soccer history. The 2012 Olympic Women’s Soccer semifinal was a highly anticipated matchup between the United States and Canada. Two CONCACAF rivals in the women’s game, the USWNT and Canada had played some epic matches throughout their history. But none have quite matched August 6, 2012 at Old Trafford in Manchester, England.

The scoring started in the 22nd minute when a Melissa Tancredi pass found Christine Sinclair, who punched it home past Hope Solo to make it 1-0. That was the score all the way until the 54th minute, when Megan Rapinoe found the back of the net to equalize it for the USWNT.
